Bootstrap Triptych

Panel One

While working on Panel One, I realized that I am an unordered list guy because it greatly improved the organization of my navbar. I still have a few markup issues as of the submission deadline for Panel One, and I spend the majority of my time micro-tweaking the placement of text and images. It could be because I’m used to moving images around in Wix, but getting the look I want has been a constant struggle. Most people have created one very long page, whereas I have only had success with three separate pages. Ideally, I’d like to combine my three pages into one, but not at the expense of having an unfinished page. I’m hoping to be able to transition with the templates.

Panel Two

Panel Two was much simpler to construct than Panel One. Even though I was only replacing content, having a finished, functional, and visually appealing space that was free of bugs and issues was extremely beneficial. In the same amount of time that I spent on Panel One, I was able to add significantly more content. In the Panel Three phase, I used Panel Two as a Rough Draft to create the most recent version of my Portfolio page.

Panel Three

I was able to create much more portfolio content for Panel 3 because I spent less time tweaking the navbar. I wish I could move the content around like it was an illustrator file, but at least I’m happy with where it’s going. I still need a few more revision passes before I can call it a finished professional webpage. I still haven’t had it read by a second set of eyes, and I have a few cheesy lines to rewrite, but by the end of this semester, I hope to have a fully finished personal webpage showcasing my experience.

What did I learn

One thing I’ve noticed about school projects is that they look like a first draft in the professional world when we turn them in. Yes, we spent time correcting and adjusting, but you can’t really make the necessary adjustments and changes to elevate the finished product until you put pencils down, step back, and have critiques. This was true for my personal portfolio because, while my first pass appeared to be completed, there were still many changes that needed to be made to make it look more polished.
